O'Connell Drive- Grade One Roberts create artwork to remember.

Students at O'Connell Drive Elementary are learning about Kwanzaa celebrations from presenters from Uganda in East Africa. Presenters are teaching through, dance, drumming and story telling.

As part of African Heritage month, students at O'Connell are taking part in the African is a continent not a country challenge! Students will choose a country to research, color that country and then post the fact to teach others. Stay tuned for more progress.

Students in Grade two Jensen are celebrating Valentine's Day by writing kind messages to every classmate using a technology called Jamboard.

Austin in Grade 4 Gillie is adding to our African is a continent not a country challenge as part of our school wide learning for African Heritage Month. Students are learning facts about different countries on the continent of Africa. Stay tuned and watch the learning continue!

Today in celebration of African Heritage Month we welcomed Keonte Beals a local author, artist and singer. He started his presentation with the Black National Anthem, "Lift Every Voice and Sing". Then he shared a reading of his book I am Perfectly Me. Rich experience for all!

O'Connell students are celebrating African Heritage Month in a variety of ways this February!

We had a great spirit week at OCDES! From future career day and dancing at lunch, students showed their spirit as we counted down to March Break! See you on Tuesday, March 21st!
