Aspiring Athletes from Year 9 recently attended a weekend of sporting adventure on the Isle of Wight building qualities such as leadership, teamwork and to encourage students to push themselves to try new activities they had not attempted before. The trip was a great success!

SCWA Peer Reading Scheme The SCWA Peer Reading Scheme is underway for 2022-23. This scheme offers Arden Sixth Form students the opportunity to work with Year 7 and 8 students as peer readers. This is a positive experience for both the sixth formers and our younger students.

Today the Academy marked Armistice Day by holding a poignant service followed by a two-minute silence and ending with the 'The Last Post'. Thank you to all the students, staff and guests for their participation and respect.

This term 190 Year 7 students made their way to the PGL residential centre at Marchant's Hill in Hindehead, Surrey. The students worked in groups with their tutors and peers on a variety of activities. Full story in the next edition of the Crown Flyer.

Digital Day at SCWA This week SCWA hosted a Digital Day using future solutions to solve real world problems of today focusing on the client, the competition, the marketplace and finally the solution. Full story to follow in the next issue of the Crown Flyer.

We would like to share this striking ‘drawing with light’ photograph captured by SCWA KS3 Photography enrichment class. This technique captures artificial light sources using slow camera shutter speed. The finished photograph is both dramatic and beautiful. Well done!

Recently Year 12 art students made their way up to London to attend the annual Forma Show at the Royal Institute of British Architects. Before the show, they visited the Tate Modern Gallery and walked around the galleries, focusing especially on examples of abstract art.

SCWA Christmas Jumper Day 2022

The SCWA swimming squad attended the LAC Swimming Gala at Sir Joseph Williamson Mathematical School.Particular success by Sophie, who came 3rd overall in the final against 5 competitors. Our overall final position was 4th, narrowly missing out on 3rd place by 2 points. Well done!

SCWA junior girls triumphant in the LAT 5 A Side football tournament held at The Leigh Academy Dartford. The final saw a close match against Hundred of Hoo with SCWA winning 4-3. Well done to the SCWA squad and all the LAT students that participated.

The academy is very proud and excited to share that Scarlett in Year 11 and her team of 8 have qualified to represent England in the senior group section of the Dance World Cup to be held in Portugal in July. We wish them all the best of luck!

Splendid Theatre Workshop Year 10/12 Drama students took part in an amazing workshop led by Splendid director and founder, Kirsty. Students explored the work of practitioners Kneehigh and Brecht. Kirsty was very impressed with our students, saying they were kind and polite.

Creative Careers Fair 8th February 2023 Year 9-13 Relevant student cohorts will soon receive their invitations to attend the Creative Careers Fair. This will be a wonderful opportunity to meet industry experts in the creative field.
