The best exam preparation is thorough revision. Remind students that looking at papers for 2025 or sharing them with friends could cost them their qualification. Encourage students to invest their time in revision and report accounts claiming to sell papers to a teacher.

Taking a smart device into an exam hall counts as cheating – it’s a rule that catches students by surprise. A phone forgotten in a pocket puts their entire qualification at risk, even if they don’t plan to use it. Encourage students to leave devices in a safe place.

Do your students understand the risks of different types of cheating in exams? They could lose marks or their entire qualification if they look at papers online or take a smartphone into exams. Help students towards success this summer by reminding them of these rules.

“It’s just looking – what’s the harm?”  Some students don’t understand the consequences of looking at papers online. They may not realise papers are hoaxes designed to scam them financially. Explain that their revision time is more valuable than looking for shortcuts.

Teachers, during exams, a simple conversation with your students about the risks of looking at hoax papers online could save them from losing marks. When shared with friends, this risk extends to them too. Effective revision is the most reliable path to exam success.
