Thursday was our volunteer appreciation dinner! Our wonderful volunteers act as tour guides for our public tours. Thanks to our hardworking staff! Chris Matheney was our speaker for the event. "Ohio Rising: Journey to Statehood" is available for free at the Ohio Statehouse.

In honor of the life and service of Scioto County Commissioner Cathy Coleman, Governor Mike DeWine has ordered that U.S. and Ohio flags be flown at half-staff upon the grounds of the Ohio Statehouse until sunset on the day of her funeral, July 11, 2025.

Trooper Todd and Sergeants Williams and Patterson received the Distinguished Service Medallions for life-saving actions during a medical emergency that took place at the Ohio Statehouse on May 6. They worked hard to save a visitors life until EMS arrived. Thank you gentlemen!

Due to mechanical updates, the parking garage, certain areas of the grounds, State St. and Third St. will be temporarily closed, beginning at 6 a.m. Additionally, the noon tours will be canceled- the first tour will begin at 1 p.m. in the Map Room. Thank you for your patience!

Then and Now -- See photos comparing historic locations to how they look now. Thanks to the Columbus Library for the exhibit in the hallway south of the Rotunda. Until 1921, Columbus' first City Hall was on the site of the present Ohio Theatre, the official theater of Ohio.

In honor of state Rep. Jack Cera, the flags will be lowered from sunrise to sunset on the day of his funeral, July 19. The Governor ordered the flags at half-staff in Belmont, Jefferson, Monroe, Noble, & Washington counties and Ohio Statehouse, Riffe Center, and Rhodes Tower.
