TV gantry empty today - the Captains and Kings have departed - but BBC Northamptonshire here as usual for full comms on Northamptonshire Steelbacks versus Durham Cricket as the Steelbacks chase P7 W7. Join myself, Graham McKechnie and Tom Brett from 6pm.

Avant le deluge? Covers on at Wantage Road after a first T20 defeat for Northamptonshire Steelbacks who - according to Darren Lehmann on BBC Northamptonshire afterwards - “batted like drunks.” Six wins from seven still a superb start - back on the horse, hopefully, in a week’s time

Heartiest congratulations to Devon Malcolm - Northamptonshire Steelbacks #394 - on his OBE in the King's birthday honours. A force for good in the game, unless you happened to be facing him from 22 yards away. Celebrations I'm sure at Brixworth CC this weekend.

Found a shady spot to watch Oundle Town CC 3s take on Grange Park CC at Foxfields. Must leave some food for Ollie Radd at halfway! NCL #nicedayforit

Well done, Shukri! Development coach for the Northamptonshire Cricket Board to ICC World Test Championship winner. Ideal preparation, clearly.Northamptonshire Steelbacks BBC Sport Northants

Congratulations to SA - Too good and a great win. A Great innings by Markram. Loved the effort by the Aussies today as always. cricket.com.au Test cricket what a game in conditions that provided a contest between bat and ball Long live test cricket!!

Thirty years ago today - June 15, 1995 - 30 wickets fell on the opening day of the Championship match between Northamptonshire Steelbacks and Essex Cricket at Wardown Park, Luton. All 4 innings began on the same day! Allan Lamb and Anil Kumble steered the County home on Day 2.

Not the result Northamptonshire Steelbacks Women wanted in the T20 - lost to Derbyshire CCC by 17 runs - but a lovely afternoon at the CG, and interviewed the County’s Italy international Lennie Sims for tomorrow’s Cricket Show on BBC Northamptonshire #Larwoodconnection

Wishing Jim Watts - one of Northamptonshire Steelbacks's finest captains - a very happy 85th birthday today. Joined the staff at Wantage Road in 1957, first-class debut two years later, two substantial spells as skipper - leading us to victory over Cricket Australia in 1972 and the B@H Cup in 1980.

Another jam-packed Cricket Show on BBC Northamptonshire - Darren Lehmann reflects on the Durham defeat for Northamptonshire Steelbacks, local boy Nick Hoult and Rob Keogh talk schedule plus Lenny Sims and Roy Virgin. bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…

Wishing a 'Beast' of a 69th birthday today to Nick Cook #346 - crossed the great divide from Leicestershire Foxes🦊 to Northamptonshire Steelbacks in 1986 - claimed 526 wickets for the County across all formats, and 15 Tests for England Cricket. Later, coach of the Second XI and then a first-class umpire.

One of the many delights of watching Northamptonshire Steelbacks play at the CG was queueing under the old scoreboard (now used by the groundstaff) to wait for a completed card of the match - produced on the in-house printing press and smelling wonderfully of ink. Jim Watts in form here!

As Northamptonshire Steelbacks nears its 150th birthday the Spencer family connects the birth of the present club in 1878 - the 5th Earl as President - to the 21st century with the 9th Earl Charles Spencer currently Patron. As Viscount Althorp he opened the new ICS with Lynn Wilson in 1991.

Happy 71st birthday to Allan Lamb - 30, 335 runs for Northamptonshire Steelbacks with 70 centuries, plus 79 Tests and 122 ODIs for England Cricket. Thirty years ago, in 1995, he led the County to 12 Championship victories and the NatWest Trophy final - and still passionate about the club.

The outfield at Wantage Road starting to turn an attractive shade of 1976 ahead of Northamptonshire Steelbacks versus Notts Outlaws in the Vitality Blast - and full commentary on BBC Northamptonshire with myself, Graham McKechnie and Tom Brett from 6

Congratulations to Lewis McManus - the first 'keeper to claim 50 Vitality Blast dismissals for Northamptonshire Steelbacks, and to make it neat and tidy it's also his 50th T20 appearance for the County.

A slightly deflating feeling of Deja-vu for a good chunk of tonight’s match. Spin proved decisive and Notts Outlaws’s slow men did the job. Back here in 36 hours or so as Northamptonshire Steelbacks return to Championship action against Middlesex Cricket on Sunday.
