Admit it, most if not all of us want our kids to follow in our footsteps. Here’s a brilliant way to build interest in the things we do in medicine. #highfidelitysimulator #mededforkids #futuremd fb.watch/2eScR6x1LD/

Growing up in the Philippines, we were taught that the attack on Pearl Harbor happened on Dec 8, not Dec 7, in 1941. This was because we were on the other side of the International Date Line. This was also the start of the simultaneous Japanese invasion of the Philippines. 🇵🇭

Got my #CovidVaccine yesterday. The worst part about the whole experience is my slight embarrassment that they brought me to the front of the long line. “You’re work in the ICU, you deserve to be first.” My arm is sore today but that’s ok. Thank you. #umcsn #UNLVmedicine #COVID

I’ve spent the last 5 months working with #UMCSN to put equipment together. Still missing items 2, 7 and 8. Building the IP program from the ground up. Everything’s on hold due to COVID. Can’t wait for 2021. Slide borrowed from AB Alraiyes #UNLVIP

IP fellows, time to think about program building. Start taking pictures of equipment and different set ups you like. I feel fellows are mostly concerned about getting their numbers that learning about program building was an afterthought. I know I was. My 2 cents. #AABIPChat

Got mine on Monday. I only had local pain at the injection site. Some will have it worse but it will pass. Regardless of the symptoms, we are all better off with the vaccine, masks and social distancing. Healthcare workers should #leadbyexample #COVID19 #taketheshot

Who else, while rounding in the COVID-filled ICU, wishes that the ventilator at the back of the room has a much larger screen? Really have to strain my eyes to see the vent settings from behind the closed glass doors. #wishlist #covid #FirstWorldProblems

The year 2021 is already looking good and then this. Congratulations to the Interventional Pulmonology fellowship class of 2020 for successfully navigating the IP board exam! #AABIP #interventionalpulmonology #UCSFtrained #DAABIP

Kudos: Dr. Krishna/team El Camino Health for their manuscript in LUNG about robotic navigation Intuitive #IonbyIntuitive with #CBCT confirmation to show a 86% diagnostic yield for nodules <2 cm and significant % being GGOs. Sure to spark discussion CHEST American Thoracic Society (ATS)

It was that kind of case. Worst complex trach stenosis I’ve dealt with since fellowship. Pt had a chronic trach and with help from ENT I was able to dilate and upsize from size 4 to 6 distal XLT. Many lessons learned. #interventionalpulm #UNLVmedicine

What to do when all the endo techs call in sick? I was glad to play the role of endo tech while another attending and fellows did the EBUS. A well-trained bronchoscopist can perform the role of any other member of the team. #ebus #bronchoscopy #umcsn #unlvmedicine

Bryan Hartley @MaldonadoFabien And yes Bryan: your argument is valid in considering TBCB with CBCT to improve diagnostic yield well noted with our paper: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34495390/

Dichotomy of the current COVID surge. We have a normal ICU census (20+) but the hospital is full with over 80 COVID+ pts. Elective cases are canceled. Omicron variant causing mild-moderate infections that need inpatient care but not ICU? Hope I’m not speaking too soon.

Just a sobering reminder that COVID affects entire families. Here’s artwork found at bedside created by kids for their grandma who is currently intubated with COVID ARDS. Please get vaccinated, not just for you but for the ones you love (and love you back!).

Congratulations to Abhishek Kumar and Vishisht Mehta for successfully passing the AABIP Interventional Pulmonology board exam. There are now 3 board certified, fellowship trained interventional pulmonologists in Nevada.

Had a great time at the Southwest Thoracic Oncology Collaborative in Phoenix. Thank you Intuitive for putting together an excellent program. Also met a lot of AZ-based IP colleagues! #roboticbronchoscopy #ionrobot #lungcancerscreening #programbuilding #advancedbronchoscopy
