New preprints from our lab! biorxiv.org/cgi/content/sh… and biorxiv.org/cgi/content/sh… which show that the RNA-binding protein TDP-43 is reduced in the endothelium in neurodegenerative diseases AD and ALS/FTD, and that this reduction can cause BBB disruption.

Led by postdoc Ashok cheemala in biorxiv.org/cgi/content/sh…, we followed up on a CRISPR screen showing that the loss of TDP-43 increased TNF-mediated activation of endothelial cells, interesting b/c endothelial activation and BBB disruption is early in disease progression.

It's interesting how often burnout is attributed to the number of hours one works, when it's more likely to be caused by the near total loss of purpose and agency within one's work environment.
