It is so incredible to see all these parents protesting and showing up to board meetings, and posting on social media, all to increase teacher pay and to ensure that teachers don’t have to buy their own supplies. It is so inspiring… KIDDING — it’s all about mask mandates.

We have to #maskup folks if we want schools to have a chance to stay open in our region. What you do matters. #DeltaVariant is far more transmissible.

1/ Last week, children accounted for 28.9% of COVID cases. Children make up 22.2% of US population. Across U.S., approx 2,200 kids are in hospitals for COVID-19. More than 1.2 million children have tested positive since they returned to classrooms. UNACCEPTABLE.

Apologies for sounding like a broken record, but here in Spain where I am lucky to spend my academic sabbatical studying a COVID Apartment outbreak everyone wears masks. Everywhere. COVID vaccine passports required for cafes and restaurants and indoor events. It’s so civilized.

Kimberly Prather, Ph.D. Anne Miller --moved to Bluesky Yes, this is relatable. For a few of us, the pandemic was as a “drop everything else” moment. The challenge is now, pandemic is still here, and almost two years of following a version of this matrix (as some do), can defer important self care indefinitely. #MarathonNotSprint

How many people (on Twitter) realize that you must wear a good mask in all public spaces especially break rooms, public restrooms, and indoor corridor even when no one is around? The virus lingers in poorly ventilated spaces for hours after infectious individuals are gone.

So rather than women's underwear, remember that you have a lot of choices right now for really high quality, high filtration masks like KF94s, N95s, and KN95s. Aaron Collins has put together a ton of resources here... drive.google.com/drive/folders/…

Reminder: NIOSH does not currently regulate N95's for children. Per CDC, those that claim to manufacture N95s approved for children, are counterfeit. For N95-grade protection, please consider KF94 (Korean standard) or FFP2 (eg Rosimask). Vet all KN95's cdc.gov/niosh/npptl/us…

This is true! The pressure drop on high filtration #masks can be better so they are actually easier to breathe through. It’s worth scanning Aaron Collins’s lists for N95s that also have low pressure drops. Upgrade your masks America!

We made cloth masks because there was NOTHING else and it was an emergency situation. Our frontline workers had zero protections. That’s not the case anymore. High quality masks are best for everyone. Wear the best mask you can and stay healthy. #COVID19 #BetterMasks
