Hon. Barugahara Balaam Ateenyi., Minister of State for Youth & Children Affairs, is attending the Africa Childcare Conference at the AU HQ. Themed “Building Partnerships for Inclusive Childcare,” the summit runs from 18–20 June with ministers & officials from AU member states.

Our team; Timothy Opobo, Clare Bangirana & Janet Abalo is participating in the Africa Conference on Childcare at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa. Under the theme “Building Partnerships to Accelerate Action”.

This month, we commemorated #WorldRefugeeDay by honoring the strength, resilience, and leadership of refugees—individuals who are not just surviving, but actively driving meaningful change in their communities.

At AfriChild, we are proud to partner with the Hilton Foundation, refugee-led organizations (RLOs), and host communities to showcase the critical role RLOs play in responding to displacement. Investing in RLOs isn’t just necessary—it creates lasting impact.

Our team have met with the Community Advisory Board- refugee leaders supporting the co-design process, to discuss ongoing community engagement on ECD. 5 new members were appointed and later formally approved by the community—a testament to local ownership of the STRETCH Project.

📍We are currently in Isingiro District – Nakivale Refugee Settlement as part of the STRETCH Project aimed at working to strengthen Early Childhood Development systems for vulnerable children and their caregivers in refugee and host communities.

In a lively dissemination session, young people used drama to advocate for Early Childhood Development (ECD), powerfully underscoring the vital role of parental involvement in the early years (0–5).
