I gave up asking students to respond to each other's discussion posts. Now I ask them to quote & reference each other's responses in their projects/papers or summarize 4-5 student responses for the annotated bib. Students use each other's writing as a resource for the course.

All these tasks with no force 😩.

every once in a while, someone tweets about how scholars/professors are such mediocre teachers. sometimes it’s PK-12 educators and other times, I’ve seen it from actual higher ed folks. I have some thoughts. so here's an incomplete 🧵on pedagogy/performance in academia. (1/?)

Today, I was banned from phone communication with my children by Hudson County Superior Court. And I am about to give up on this legal fight for my kids. My story proves America's Family court system is broken. A thread.

writing a dissertation in this particular era of academia is a different kind of frustrating. Guidance isn’t the same. We have pity and empathy for overworked committee members. They want retirement or less workload. We don’t reach out cause guilt. And we don’t get help. Cycle.
