Despite limited resources, many LDCs have submitted ambitious NDCs, informed by 1.5°C pathways—most with partial costing and dependent on international support. Implementation is a top priority. We urge others to raise ambition and submit NDCs in time, so #COP30 can focus on

I am gravely alarmed by the use of force by the United States against Iran today. This is a dangerous escalation in a region already on the edge – and a direct threat to international peace and security.   There is a growing risk that this conflict could rapidly get out of

When we reported that the Pentagon/DTRA assessed the “bunker busters” would not destroy Fordow, the White House told Fox the story was wrong and the bombs would 100% destroy the site. Per NYT, Fordow doesn’t appear to be destroyed even w 12 bombs theguardian.com/world/2025/jun…

Great to see New York saying yes to a leftist candidate and no to a man who was found to have subjected at least 13 women to ‘sexually hostile work environment.’ And it's a ranked-choice election! Something Australians are very familiar with...

Interesting. Hardball tactics from PM of Vanuatu Jotham Napat. Declares he won’t sign Nakamal pact unless Aus agrees to visa waiver for his citizens Napat also suggests waiver is “on the table.” If true, fascianting. Would be basically unprecedented for Aus-Pacific if introduced

This is tough read, but sexual violence was widely used as a weapon of war in #Tigray, Ethiopia. Center for Victims of Torture is proud to stand with these survivors during their journey of recovery. theguardian.com/global-develop…

STAGGERING: This new study of 133 countries is the first to estimate the impact of all USAID’s work. In 2 decades, it saved *92M* lives. Current cuts, if not reversed, are forecast to cost *14M* lives thru 2030. thelancet.com/journals/lance…

Not that anyone cares, but now that JD Vance has cast the tiebreaking vote for $1 trillion in Medicaid cuts, I'm reupping these Vance quotes from 2017, in which he flatly declared that cuts like these betray Trumpism's promises to the working class: newrepublic.com/article/195499…

Food should never come with gunfire. Over 500 Palestinians have been killed and 4,000 injured under Israel’s militarized distribution scheme in Gaza. This is not a humanitarian response. More than 170 organizations, including @Amnesty, are calling for an end to this deadly

CONFIRMED According to well placed US military sources, the Pentagon has halted weapons systems needed by Ukraine at a crucial moment in its fight with Russia. The weapons, which were already on their way to Ukraine and in Poland, include missile interceptors and 155 mm

Lots I agree with in Tim Murithi piece, especially need for a real political conversation about where United Nations is headed. But while it's true that the P5 can't veto an "Article 109" mega-conference on UN reform, they CAN veto its outcome (Art 109 says so). legal.un.org/repertory/art1…

This is an important statement, because it makes clear that both Trump and the Republican party are now trying to legitimize stripping their political opponents of citizenship for NO OTHER REASON than they disagree with them. This is not how democracy functions.
