Here's a look at a cool thing I've been working on for RJ Palmer 🔜 Gen Con AS-77. Lizard anatomy is well studied/figured, but many of the resources are hidden in literature that may be unknown/inaccessible to artists. The mission was to make an idealised, artist-friendly ref for lizard muscles.🦎

It turns out...Komodo dragons have iron-coated teeth! nature.com/articles/s4155… Their serrations and tips pop into the mouth with an orange hue. Using different techniques, we show that these iconic lizards have special iron-rich coatings on each tooth, keeping them razor sharp!

The Río Pichileufú plant fossil locality in Patagonia, #Argentina has a reputation for diversity based on pioneering 20th century #paleobotany. A fresh look at the locality corrects historical errors in taxonomy and incorporates new data, overall increasing the known diversity.

Truly an unbelievable run.
