This shows that for women the leaky pipeline continues even after getting tenure. If the academic system does not change, I don’t know how it will be sustainable. Academic jobs seem designed for individuals with a stay at home partner, intergenerational wealth, and workaholism 😒

How do short-term land cover changes influence #lemur #density? Pamela Narváez-Torres, Steig Johnson & colleagues explore this question in the 9th paper from Amanda Melin (she/her) and my special issue of AmJournalPrimatology on #primatology in #Canada. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…

Although we’re very excited because this was A LOT of work and because it’s one of my thesis chapters, we’re not so excited to report a decrease in density in 6/7 lemur spp and a very important annual decrease in forest cover in Kianjavato

Finally out! We examined whether mouse #lemur species exhibit varying density responses to #edge #effects across fragmented landscapes. Our results demonstrate that differences in density patterns can be attributed to species-specific traits and the scale of analysis.

“This is a change that encourages hunting of a species that is isolated, has declined, and is maybe just starting to recover, but there’s no evidence that we need a hunt or that this will in any way manage the population,” Ruiping Luo, a conservation specialist Alberta Wilderness Association

A completely nonsensical, hypocritical, and baffling decision to allow thermal coal mining to expand its footprint in Canada, while also saying you're committed to ending its export in the next 5 years Steven Guilbeault Impact Assessment Agency of Canada

Caribou herds need at least 65% of their range to be undisturbed to have a shot at survival. Currently, 6 of AB’s caribou ranges have less than 10% undisturbed habitat remaining, and some – like the Little Smoky Herd – have <1% remaining‼️ - @PhillipMeintzer Alberta Wilderness Association

🆕A report by 5 former Fish&Wildlife biologists found that no part of the Eastern Slopes can safely, effectively & environmentally accommodate coal mining. The 2021 report for the Coal Policy Committee was largely inaccessible. Now it's on our website: tinyurl.com/mv3pk7db

The creation of #HarvestPreserves will facilitate the spread of #CWD around the province. Very concerning for the already struggling caribou populations!

We weren’t expecting much from the #UpperSmoky draft and Gov of Alberta still disappointed us deeply. This plan was supposed to be about #caribou recovery and it turned out to be a plan for extinction
