St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland, brought to the Emerald Isle when he was kidnapped and enslaved. Though he eventually escaped, he returned and advanced Christianity throughout the island. He is celebrated on March 17, the day he is believed to have died.

Seventy five years ago, the international community agreed on a set of common values and acknowledged that rights are inherent to every single human being. These rights are enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, a blueprint for international human rights norms.

Palm Sunday is the final Sunday of Lent, the beginning of Holy Week, & commemorates the triumphant arrival of Christ in Jerusalem. Jesus entered Jerusalem riding a donkey, and to the praise of the townspeople who threw palms or small branches, in front of him as a sign of homage.

Holy Week is a string of eight days that allow us an opportunity to reflect upon Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. It starts with Palm Sunday when Jesus enters the city of Jerusalem & leads us through the Last Supper, His crucifixion, & ends on Easter Sunday with His resurrection.

Handmade kites are flown in Bermuda on Good Friday to symbolize the cross that Jesus died on, as well as his ascension into heaven. Churches in countries, such as Belgium and Mexico, are draped in black on Good Friday. Fasting and egg decorating is part of Easter prep in Poland.

Good Friday celebrates the most momentous event in the history of the world. St. Paul considered it “of first importance” that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and was raised to life on the third day, following what God had promised in the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:3)

“Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? And well you should not. For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter.”
