At intervals, in our edgy little town, that shrill note rises & falls & our collie answers it. He stands in the back yard, lifts his wolfy muzzle & adds something desolate and beautiful - a lament, a full-throated dirge - to the great book of warnings & wounds: Mark Granier

Rhasidat Adeleke is a wonderfully talented and inspiring athlete with a bright future ahead of her. I haven’t read any of the abuse that apparently has been directed at her online. Equally I have not stuck my head in the toilet bowl today.

Lovely event yesterday at Portlaoise Library to celebrate its first birthday, with the terrific young harpist Kiêu Conroy. Book sales to PATH, Portlaoise action to homelessness who do great work for those less fortunate.
