Early this month, traffic shifted onto the new westbound Hwy 17 overpass over Old Yale Road in City of Surrey! People travelling under the overpass can see the #PattulloBridgeReplacement Project’s first Indigenous art installation along the northeast side of the new overpass.

To recognize First Nations connections to the #PattulloBridgeReplacement Project area, First Nations artwork is being installed both on and off the new bridge. Soon, artwork will be installed on the lower piers, upper tower and crossbeam! Learn more: ow.ly/8wRM50WbOig

Check out this cool shot looking toward City of Surrey from the bridge tower! Crews are working to install concrete deck panels on the last steel girder section on this side, called the ā€œend span.ā€ Once deck construction is complete, roadway will be paved on top.

This photo was taken on May 5, looking down from above the bridge tower. Can you spot the circles in the sides of the tower? That is where cable stay connections will be made. The bridge tower is 167 metres tall – that’s 50 flights of stairs for workers to climb to the top!

Here’s a shot of the north approach in @new_westminster! Precast panels are being installed over Front St. Notice how the steel bridge is wider here? This is for the East Columbia off-ramp, a new direct connection from the bridge to East Columbia St.

In City of Surrey, First Nations artwork is being installed in 2 locations as part of the #PattulloBridgeReplacement. Artwork is already installed on the new Hwy 17/Old Yale Rd overpass, & metal art attachments will soon be installed along King George Blvd.

In this photo, crews install rebar to prepare for a concrete pour on the south side of the bridge deck. Now that deck panels are installed, rebar is installed before concrete is poured over top, connecting all deck components.

Here’s a close-up look at stay cable installation! Stay cables are strong cables that connect to the bridge tower and bridge deck to support the structure. They are made up of metal strands pulled through weather-resistant tubing and anchored into place.
