Fun collaboration with the Martín-Durán lab lab. There's lots of goodies for 5mC aficionados here, but I find particularly cool expanding potential "epigenetic clocks" to invertebrates. Read on for new insights on GbM, TEs and the link with transcription!
Happy to be involved in this tour de force from the excellent kero guynes and the Martín-Durán lab Alex de Mendoza labs. DNA methylation in annelids!
Please join us for the @qmulepigenetics seminar by Kristian Tapaninaho from @icr_london 11th Jan. 15.30GMT. venue: Derek Willoughby Lecture Theatre, at our Charterhouse Square campus and online link at qmulepigenetics.com/webinars
Looking forward to Kristian Helin's visit for the @qmulepigenetics this week!

So its out Genome Biology: genomebiology.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11…. All you need to know about DNA methylation in annelids🪱! This has been a great collaboration with the Martín-Durán lab lab, led by kero guynes. One of the main findings is that the methylome erodes throughout development and beyond! 1/
Great to see this finally out! Thanks Alex de Mendoza, kero guynes and everyone else involved! And European Research Council (ERC), Queen Mary University of London and QM_SBBS for the support! 🪱
The product of a collaboration between 3 @qmulepigenetics groups gives new insights on the developmental roles of DNA methylation in a major invertebrate animal group: genomebiology.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11…

I’m incredibly grateful to all those who helped get this story out. Firstly, to Martín-Durán lab and Paul Hurd for their guidance and mentorship, but also to Rory Donnellan, kero guynes, Allan Carrillo-Baltodano, jobycole and Mark for their hard work 💪🙌 Thank you, truly! 🙏
New paper from the lab! 🎉 Incredible effort by Francisco M Martín-Zamora to kick-start our work into annelid 🪱 histones and their regulatory implications! Check his 🧵to know more 👇🏻
Very sad to hear of the passing of John Gurdon. Pioneer of developmental biology and a simply fantastic human being. Privilege to have known and worked with him. Gurdon Institute Cambridge University
