Yorkshire was a stronghold of Chartism hosting numerous lodges and gatherings. Feargus O’Connor, the editor of The Northern Star, a significant Chartist newspaper, was based in Leeds. It played a vital role in disseminating Chartist ideals and organising support.

Memorial in Normossen Forest outside Kokkola, #Finland to 47 Reds executed here in 1918 during the Finnish Civil War. I'm constantly struck by the enormous scale of death in this conflict, c. 38k people, when you compare it to the comparatively few deaths in the Irish Civil War.
