Pekka Enberg DST also cannot catch bugs that can only happen in parallel environments as it executes it all serially, but this isn't a huge issue with Rust as it basically prevents all that by default

Sriram Subramanian Good summary. One option you missed: scale-out remote storage at a layer higher than the block layer but below object (e.g. DB page layer in Aurora, or row layer in Aurora DSQL).
