#OTD 42 years ago, eight brave RNLI Penlee Lifeboat crew members launched in treacherous conditions to help the Union Star, a stricken coaster being swept towards Cornwall. Tragically, the heroic volunteers would not return home and 16 people lost their lives. #RNLIHistory
