This is a shot high up of the Sydney Cricket Ground (Association Ground) during the 2nd Test match of the English tour of 1891-92, which was led by the ‘amateur’ WG Grace. He was paid the exorbitant fee of £3k to lead the tour. Australia won this match by 72 runs, thanks to Giffen’s 10 wickets.

Greg Baum Nary a mention of the precedent set by Bairstow a day earlier nor the wickets claimed under similar circumstances by coach ‘Baz’ in other internationals a decade ago.

Parky was a great man - as a journo in 1967 he was so scathing about the England selectors when they dropped Sir Geoffrey Boycott for slow scoring that they sued him for libel - when 40+ years later a nobody like me contacted him to ask about it he actually called me - RIP

I find tables like this so disappointing. Why erase Johnny King — the greatest tryscorer to wear the #RedV — out of the history of the club and the game.
