Only 2 MPs covered by BBC East Midlands switched their votes on the assisted dying bill between 2nd Reading and todayās 3rd Reading: Reform UK MP for Ashfield, Lee Anderson MP and Labour MP for North West Leicestershire, Amanda Hack MP. Both voted against having previously voted in favour.

The Labour MP for Amber Valley, Linsey Farnsworth, abstained on the welfare reform bill this evening. All other Labour MPs covered by BBC East Midlands voted with the government, with the exception of Nottingham Eastās Nadia Whittome - who made her feelings clear from the outset.

Join me at 1030 on BBC1 for the latest instalment of BBCpoliticseastmidlands, where weāll discuss the Starmer governmentās first year with some grandees of East Midlands politics: Mark Spencer, Vernon Coaker and Marianne Overton.
