When patients have surgery, their care is handed over between doctors. How well this handover happens can impact them. What should we measure to see if handover improvements work. E.g., should we look at how quickly patients recover? The costs involved? etc.. Help us choose what

If, like me, you are concerned about healthcare quality and want to fix it, you can help submit a comment in support of a measure I have helped support through my work with Patients For Patient Safety US: something called the Patient Safety Structural Measure 🧵 #HealthPolicy #SciPol

The PSSM requires hospital leaders to attest to whether they have implemented 25 patient safety best practices. It is now a formal rule for hospitals. Hospital leaders will begin reporting to CMS in 2025, and CMS will publicly share hospital PSSM scores starting in 2026.
