Today we were arrested in a nonviolent civil disobedience to demand oversight of ICE’s inhumane detention practices. Even in the face of authoritarianism, we were able to go home. But the people we’re fighting for don’t have that privilege, as ICE disappears and deports them.

Cuomo’s camp can't fathom not criminalizing poverty. You can support the decrim of sex work AND not have a stance on legalization. The decrim community in NY hasn't largely advocated for regulation just less harm. Not every purchaser is a trafficker & decrim IS anti-trafficking.

This is tragic and heartbreaking. I'm praying for the families of those who were shot. A system of mass detention and deportation does not keep people safe.

I was back at 26 Federal Plaza today (w/ Gustavo Rivera), where an ICE agent violently threw this bereft woman to the ground in front of her kids. She had not touched him. She did not pose any threat. She had to be taken to the hospital.

As Assata said, “It is our duty to fight for our freedom. It is our duty to win. We must love each other and support each other. We have nothing to lose but our chains.” ✊🏿
