We have launched a feasibility study to assess whether performing a minimally invasive blood test on patients with a suspected head injury can help determine if they are suffering from bleeding in the brain. (🧵1/2)

Thanks Chris Bishop Agree. Medical interventions in the hands of experts are always tailored to the patient and situation, and never a one size fits all.

Great to see EHAAT (and UK HEMS in general) pushing the boundaries of PHEM research with academic posts. PHEM is such an untapped clinical environment for impactful studies, and this post at a really forward thinking HEMS organisation!

Some exciting RAID updates: ERICA-ARREST. >50% recruited. Lots of state of the art OHCA data captured, and trial survivors! BRAIN-FIRST - Over 20 patients recruited and some excellent TBI POC data Abbott Keep watching for updates! eaaa.org.uk/clinical-area/…

Tim Cook So in summary - my arguments will not satisfy the group 2 argument, and to be fair that is the level of evidence (so they are not wrong, ….. yet 🤣🤣🤣 )

Great point Chris! This has been in other guidelines for adults for years, and can now be operationalised and delivered, even intra-arrest. The A in ALS really doesn’t seem to stand for advanced, algorithmic life support would be more accurate

Chris Bishop Resus Pieces Dr Richard Webb James Yates I don’t what more we can do… 80 patients with pre hospital arterial cannulation and intra arrest invasive BP measurements and it doesn’t even feature in the guidelines. Meanwhile most services are just getting on with implementing the capability

I was highly skeptical that there was a benefit to recognising and treating occult VF diagnosed with POCUS versus traditional electrocardiographic (ecg)VF This has made me revise my preconceptions. There might be a benefit to diagnosing occult VF with US and treating it as such
