The fundamental human right to make informed health decisions isn't invalidated by others' disapproval of those decisions.

Frustrating to read so many myths uncritically reported here. Perhaps most of all the idea that vapes needed to be banned for adults to address underage vaping. Teen vaping rates are also declining in NZ, where vapes are legal and have led to massive declines in adult smoking.

"Just like with vaping, the approach is the same: remove legal access, offer no viable alternatives, blame the individual, and let the black market fill the gap. It’s not about helping people quit. It’s about trying to erase people who use nicotine." Pippa Starr - Let's Improve Vaping Education! 🇦🇺 ALIVE

It's a good article, but not mentioning the most popular & most effective (and most vilified) way to quit smoking---vaping---suggests that this came straight from Big Tobacco.

"Among respondents (n = 864) who switched from vaping to smoking (n = 104), the primary reasons included 1. the perception that smoking was healthier (44%) and 2. greater accessibility of cigarettes (40%)" 😳

I've given Mr. Clark some pushback on the way he argues, but his main point is spot-on. This read might be uncomfortable for some---undoubtedly they're the ones who should read it.

The only thing worse than the laws this country comes up with is the way we make them. The ban on disposable vapes is pretty much Exhibit A. Short, angry thread. (1/?)
