Its worth having a VPN just to fool travel websites, which will jack up their prices (even if you exit the browser, clear cookies and restart your computer) if they notice you repeating a search.

Pulitzer committee, take note: this article contains the finest sentence written this century: “I learned all about it from Fuji, as he called himself, a twenty-three-year-old Egyptian gooner I met while conducting supplementary fieldwork in a wankbattling server on Discord.”

Bar next to my hotel has a classic cocktail menu. Ordered a dry martini, lemon. Got a warm cocktail glass of bianco vermouth with lemon juice. Had a chat. Shared the correct spec. Still got a warm-ish glass of gin and dry vermouth AND lemon juice…garnished with an olive.

A superior crisp with clear American ambitions - note their cunning use of “potato chip” - but did it occur to the fine people of Keogh’s that Americans have no idea how to pronounce their name, and thus won’t be able to ask for them? (It’s KEE-OH’s, spoken rapidly, btw).

This remarkable tidbit of Saudi history is buried in the article: “Booze has not always been prohibited in the kingdom. King Ibn Saud banned alcohol in 1952 after his own son Prince Mishari shot dead the British vice-consul Cyril Ousman in a drunken rage.”
