Don't miss Brittany Hemmer's talk (679.02) at #SfN22! Brittany is a T32 fellow from the NIH/NIA, co-president of MiNDS (MiNDS) and a joy to work alongside. She is a great PhD student in our lab and will make a terrific postdoc one day (for the lucky lab that snags her!)

Excited to share our preprint, “Neuronal TIMP2 regulates hippocampus-dependent plasticity and extracellular matrix complexity”! Joseph Castellano, Friedman Brain Institute biorxiv.org/content/10.110… A brief 🧵on what we found (1/n):

〰️New preprint alert!〰️ Say hello to PhaSER: an open-source tool that you (yes, you!) can use to perform real-time phase-estimation and phase-specific manipulations. Here we show that PhaSER can directly manipulate the phase-locking of SOM+ interneurons in awake, behaving mice!

Check out the preprint for my main PhD project🥳 we find that a strong negative experience can update memories from DAYS ago, and this updating happens during rest periods shortly after the negative experience. We think this is one way animals make causal inferences across days!
