Happy birthday to the legendary Ornette Coleman, born on this day in 1930! He is best known as a principal founder of the free jazz genre. His pioneering works often abandoned the harmony-based composition, tonality, chord changes, and fixed rhythm found in earlier jazz idioms.

This footage of the 1913 FA Cup Final between Sunderland and Aston Villa is extraordinary. SAFC were going for the double (and would go on to win the League), while Villa finished in second place - but won the Cup. Ironically, the only goal of the game was scored by Tommy Barber
