Resus Elf Ralph has joined our department on a short, month long secondment from the North Pole today! He's been busy familiarising himself with the cardiac arrest trolley and will be posting some top tips over the next few days! Ralph's top tip for Drawer 1! There should be a total of 4 masks 1.) Bag,valve,mask (BVM) 2.) Spare anaesthetic face mask to attach to a BVM 3.) Non rebreathe mask with reservoir bag (modelled by Ralph!) 4.) Yellow boxed pocket mask Portsmouth Hospitals University NHST

Top tip for Drawer 2! Make sure you have the correct capnogrpahy adaptor (as pictured with Ralph) Capnography is useful in Resus situations as it confirms airway tubes are in the trachea & evidences high quality CPR. If no trace think WRONG PLACE!

Ralph has been busy doing the cardiac arrest follow ups today. Don't forget that all in hospital cardiac arrests should be documented on the cardiac arrest record form. Forms can be found in the Red resource file where the checklists are kept on the cardiac arrest trolley!
