New Visions Sports Medicine students held their first-ever health fair to showcase all they learned this year. Dr. William Brightman's students covered topics ranging from nutrition and radiology to orthopedic injury prevention and rehabilitation.

CTE students in several programs have been upgrading Putnam’s emergency response REACT van for the last 5 months. Steve Simpson’s Auto Body class, Rob Stanford’s Welding class, Chris Russo’s Carpentry class and Larry Marino’s Construction Electricity class have all chipped in!

PNW BOCES Construction Electricity students have earned their 30-hour training certificate from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), something they'll need as they embark on their careers in the trade.

Steve Simpson's Auto Body students restored three rescue boats for the Katonah FD, which were picked up today. “We very much appreciate the students fixing these boats up for us so we can put them in service and protect the district,” said FD Chief Brian Lehrer.

Congratulations to the more than 600 young men and women who were celebrated at last night's CTE Recognition Ceremony! The future is bright for these Tech Center students!

Brian Duffy’s Introduction to Construction students built a shed that will be used by John Madden’s Urban Forestry class at PNW BOCES. The students designed the structure, laid out the plans, chose the wood, estimated the cost of labor and tools, and got to work!

Sparks are flying and busy hands are making metal masterpieces at the first Welding and Metal Fabrication camp at PNW BOCES. Campers are learning the basics of welding and how to use the high-powered tools of the trade.

HVAC instructor Pat Quinn is teaching Metalworking campers at PNW BOCES how to use a soldering iron to meld together pieces of metal and create projects using copper pipes. Campers are also learning how to use and cut sheet metal and PVC pipe and how to make a fan work.

The summer salon is open at the Hairstyling camp at PNW BOCES. Under the guidance of cosmetology teacher Debbie Busatti, campers have mastered the art of braiding, blowouts and scalp treatments. Campers are learning a variety of styles and creating their very own look books.

Instructor Stacy Rella is teaching campers the importance of PH balance and litmus testing at the Skin Care and Esthetics camp at PNW BOCES. Campers are also learning how to do eyebrows and eyelashes, make up contouring and highlighting, and how to give traditional facials.

Congrats to Auto Body teacher Steve Simpson for being selected for a training funded by 3M in Minnesota this past summer. “It provided advanced classroom instruction in welding, painting, repair technologies, and more, which I am thrilled to pass on to my students,” Simpson said.

Fashion Design and Merchandising students are busy working on their draping skills!

Things are getting heated in Rob Stanford's morning Welding class. First-year students are learning to use acetylene cutting torches, their first hands-on tool. They're starting by cutting different size circles in sheets of metal.

Mastering a chainsaw is one John Madden's Urban Forestry students' many skills. The class is clearing and chopping up downed tree limbs around the challenge course on campus. The students are making sure the area is clean & safe, while preserving the ecology of the forest floor.

Maintaining patient safety & dignity at all times was the theme in a recent Certified Nursing Assistant class lesson. Caroline Murphy's students practiced modeling a patient and a CNA offering aid. Mahopac High School's Julia Sciarrino is seen tending to Evelyn Lazo, Ossining HS.

It was a morning of firsts in Stacy Rella's Intro to Salons class. Emily Poveromo, a Walter Panas HS junior gave her inaugural blow out. Emily made fellow student Rihanelly Ruiz's hair shine! Rihanelly, a Brewster HS junior has already mastered pin curls and roller sets.

There are big changes this year in the Intro to Auto Mechanics class. Students learn out of a classroom shop where they help maintain the fleet of campus vehicles under the watchful eye of teacher Vincent DiTaranto.

First-year Carpentry students are learning what a beautiful, versatile canvas wood can be. Chris Russo’s students are designing, measuring, and cutting all the small pieces they need to make intricate, framed mosaic displays. And of course, they’re doing it all safely!
