The new EMB policy brief on #BlueCarbon highlights the need to strongly limit greenhouse gas emissions if these ecosystems are to contribute to climate stabilisation: Find out more: marineboard.eu/publications/b… #MissionOcean #OceanDecadeEurope

The Ocean is vitally important in #climatechange mitigation taking up ~25% of all CO2 emissions each year, but this uptake will diminish with more greenhouse gas emissions. Find out more in our #BlueCarbon policy brief: marineboard.eu/publications/b…

The maximum mitigation provided by coastal #BlueCarbon is ~2% of our current global CO2 emissions and their contribution to climate stabilisation will only be significant once emissions are strongly curbed. Find out more in the new EMB Policy Brief: marineboard.eu/publications/b…

#COP28 starts today. Findings from the #IPCC 2023 Synthesis Report are clear. #Climatechange is a threat to human well-being & planetary health. There is a rapidly closing window of opportunity to secure a liveable & sustainable future for all. 🔗 bit.ly/SRYRpt23

Our future climate - what's in store? ▪️ Many climate-related risks are higher for any given future warming level. ▪️Projected long-term impacts are up to multiple times higher ▪️High risks are now assessed to occur at lower global warming levels. ➡️ bit.ly/SRYRpt23

Our future climate – what’s in store? Risks increase with every increment of warming. As warming levels increase, so do the risks of species extinction or irreversible loss to biodiversity in ecosystems such as forests, coral reefs & in Arctic regions. bit.ly/SRYRpt23

Deadly heat that would have been very rare without climate change & even relatively rare just 20 years ago, now common event due to continued increase in emissions from burning fossil fuels. We now this is happening, but we are not prepared. worldweatherattribution.org/extreme-heat-k…

🌡️ No words, no numbers—just a powerful visual capturing our planet’s warming. 🔴 The latest update adds a new dark red stripe for 2024—a color first introduced last year when 2023 shattered all previous records.
