Important to note that most modelling studies on this topic have used (uncoupled) atmospheric models and there is no suggestion that these underestimate the climate response to sea ice loss. Not a problem with the models, but sensitivity to how you artificially melt ice in model

Hi Mark England. Agree, this raises questions about the tropical impacts. But a southward jet shift is robustly seen in Polar Amplification MIP atmospheric model experiments, which are not subject to the problems you identify. You're not suggesting this is spurious, are you?

As a PhD student, I got to sit in the cockpit for this landing. Amazing! I've shown the photos to many school classes (and a WI group) since. Wishing I'd taken a video now ;-)!

But the 📽️ does include the hastily organised 'group' meeting with whoever was in the office that day (thanks to the extras!), an impromptu visit to the Met Office Chief Forecaster's office because of it's visual appeal, and lots of b-roll of me walking through doors 😬☺️
