We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Rhoda Kalema, one of Uganda’s first women politicians and a woman whose name is etched into the foundations of our political history.   Thread🧵 #herstory

Born in 1929, Hon. Kalema was among one of the first women to enter Uganda’s political space. Her service began in the 1960s &spanned decades, from the Uganda Council of Women to Parliament, to co-founding the African Women’s Development Fund in the 1990s.

Her strength lay not only in what she achieved, but in how she carried it; with humility, grace& unwavering purpose. Today, we remember &thank her. For the sacrifices, the vision &the door she kicked open, not just for women in politics, but for all of us dreamers. #herstory
