Listening to Megha Vermuri's MIT commencement address, I suspect (but can't be certain) that she was not allowed to collect her diploma because of things she may have said about Gaza. timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/us/india…

I 'd say Melon Tusk had a much worse day today (revelations of drug addiction & imputed responsibility for hundreds of thousands of deaths) than GreenForest.

Labor shortages are high in personal care and nursing which have a high exposure to mental health risks. I'm guessing this is partly due to the mental difficulties of taking care of elderly people who are suffering, in mental decline, & possibly abusive cepr.org/voxeu/columns/…

Keynes had his unemployment equilibrium. But here's a low critical reasoning equilibrium. Due to poor education, Americans are weak in critical reasoning, making them easy marks for cynical politicians who don't act to remedy their poor education and to implement good policy.

Milley's undergrad Princeton thesis was about guerilla strategy; Hegseth's was about Presidential rhetoric. Who's Hegseth kidding? He's not capable of strategic analysis of the use of tanks in various battlefield scenarios. It's all addled posturing resulting from a career in hot

I'm sure someone has said this before. But Benjamin seems wrong to me to emphasize the reproducibility of images. Moving pictures fast enough so that the viewer is immersed in an illusion of continuity & critical thought is inhibited seems to me more important.

If AI affects a broad swathe of jobs, putting people at risk of displacement throughout the job structure... Two analogies: (1) Roemer has argued that due to defeat all classes in Germany and Japan felt vulnerable, building broad support for a generous welfare state. (2)

We're not headed for (a) mutual gains among contending classes or (b) the revolutionary reconstitution of society but (c) an equilibrium not of unemployment per se but of the domination of the most vulnerable parts of the active working class and relative surplus population or

What does this show? That the Muslim world is, like every other religious faith, fragmented into nation-states that demand loyalty to it over religious faith. Nationalism is the dominant identity, at least ideally--something Marx did not understand but Benedict Anderson did.

Do bullshitters not have bullshit detectors? Why can't confidence men also be marks? Don't suppliers sometimes get high on their own supply? Why can't someone who persuades others with bad reasons not be likely to be persuaded by bad reasons?

I've always said that if the mob could get to the great Akido master Steven Seagal (he's no joke), they could get to anyone. Musk seems to have been warned of what will happen to him if he doesn't do as told.🤪

Dimon scapegoats immigrants and green technology for the stagnation of the income of the bottom 20% where immigrants are disproportionately represented. Those making less than $30K a year seem to have voted for Harris over Trump. Who's Dimon trying to take the heat off?

Did any of the peace activists maliciously accused of being pro-Hamas want a demotion, if not total removal, of Hamas as the sole governing authority (along with the disarming of al Qassam military brigade) in exchange for peace and negotiations towards a 2 state solution?

Foreign students waving Hamas flags on Harvard's campus and Hugo Chavez controlling the Dominion voting machines from the grave. The flag of Hamas/al Qassam Brigade is not the same thing as the Palestinian flag. Harvard should sue Fox News for libel.

Creepy that right-wing men are drooling (or defending drooling) over a commencement speaker half their age despite their repugnance for her pro-Palestinian politics--as if to assert proudly their id that respects no social boundaries or taboos--without a word defending her from
