Dr. Allie Graham, PhD Emily Kopania & Sarah Lucas led a wonderful, diverse session on Adaptation to Extreme Environments. #TeamExtreme #SMBE2023 #ProudPI

Dr. Arnaldo Díaz I'm Allie, a NIGMS K99/R00 awardee and previous NSF PRFB Fellow. I study the mechanisms associated with hypoxia (low oxygen), from a comparative genomics and physiology standpoint. Interest piqued? Check out my website for more: alliemgraham.weebly.com

Cool deep sea jelly alert: the Dinner Plate jelly, Solmissus incisa. Collected in Monterey Bay at 800m with ROV Ventana. This is the first one we’ve been able to display at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Hopefully the 1st of many. #deepsea #jellyfish #ROV

So excited to have this awesome collaborative work finally out! Congrats caroline stefani Adam Lacy-Hulbert! We found that ctenophore (comb jelly) immune cells produce DNA traps as an antimicrobial defense, similar to the behavior of vertebrate neutrophils. 1/ nature.com/articles/s4146…

I'm glad to announce that I will be a postdoc no more! Why, you ask? It's because I'll be starting my lab at the University of Kansas in the Molecular Biosciences Dept this Fall! University of Kansas #NIHfunded Stay Tuned!
