The rise of cities such as Gurugram, Hosur, Sri City is interesting because they are leveraging their proximity to larger cities in a neighbouring state -- New Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai. This has implications for economic geography as well as Indian federalism. (1/7)

What will it take to deliver on India’s economic growth aspirations? Artha Global was privileged to be asked by Bombay Chamber to articulate a road map. No surprise to anyone who knows our work — the path to #ViksitBharat runs through India’s cities. 🌃 🚆

Over half of the residents of India’s five largest cities missed a day of work due to high temperatures. However, this climate-induced loss of productivity is far more likely to afflict poorer communities (as measured by asset ownership). Fascinating findings from Artha Global.

Thanks Subhashish Bhadra. Totally agree. Roughly 50 percent of India’s workforce works outdoors, and there are staggering health and productivity impacts of rising heat stress. Keen to see how we can support cities to address it. Niranjan Rajadhyaksha Artha Global

Amidst the current EV hype, a crucial point by CEA Anantha Nageswaran in #economicsurvey2025 -- investing in clean and effective public transportation is vastly more effective than simply getting more electric vehicles on the road.

The panel discussion on Cities of Tomorrow organised jointly by the German Embassy and the Kubernein Initiative at the Quorum in Mumbai was insightful and thought provoking. It discussed problems of sustainable urban development from different perspectives.

Very interesting statistic. Even as we lay 100s > kms of roads, we must focus on road quality (potholes & obstructions) & management (lane discipline, mode segregation, orderly crossings etc) plus of course efficient mass public transit.
