Great day of thought exchange/ learning with colleagues, students + Union friends, but saddened we had to take to a strike. We joined and remain in Academia for the love of teaching, learning + sharing this commitment with colleagues + students. @AMPL/AMPD McGill Faculty of Law | Faculté de droit

…and long overdue unionization efforts in other McGill departments, professors, the students and a growing number of employers of McGill graduates ask: ”What is the goal of this hard anti-union line?“ McGill Faculty of Law | Faculté de droit @AMPL/AMPD

They and we all ask ourselves ’Where is the value in telling faculty that their views and their expertise does not count in collegially shaping the University they love and dedicate their time to?‘ McGill Faculty of Law | Faculté de droit @AMPL/AMPD

We are thrilled beyond words to receive $1,000,000 from the CAUT Defence Fund to support our strike and efforts to conclude a fair collective agreement that will serve as a model for Education, Arts and others,

Putting aside demands of current protests, the underlying problem, across academia, is the problem of an overpaid, intransigent, managerial class that wants to wall itself from the world and take home half a million or more dollars a year. Let's take back the academy.

Friday 3 May 2024 marks 508th day since negotiations on @AMPL/AMPD / McGill University first faculty collective agreement began. Rather than getting it done in, what, 24-48 hours in a room, they dare suggesting to graduate our students without grades.

#FactCheckMcGill: @lawmcgill's FAQs state that it will hold Convocation on May 29. McGill University has decided it would rather push students across a Convocation stage without proper transcripts, grades or approval of Faculty Council than sit down and negotiate a collective agreement.

#FactCheckMcGill: @lawmcgill says that winter grades will not be given until our members "have returned to work and assigned letter grades." Any grading outside grading season will be performed subject to a back-to-work protocol that must be negotiated between McGill University and us.
