How cool is this?! LRE_ThunderEagles 5th graders had quite the adventure today on a boat trip to Hood Canal Bridge to learn about salmon populations. They even saw some orcas! Tag along with them in the video below π₯π Thank you, Long Live the Kings! q13fox.com/video/1134896
Yesterday, Puget Sound Express and FOX 13 Seattle (with a few special guest stars in the water!) inspired a boatload of students yesterday on our Survive the Sound grand prize field trip to Hood Canal Bridge! q13fox.com/video/1134896
#happyhumpday!π Meet BCY0523 "Graze". Graze was first documented off BC in 2005 and has been matched to Maui in the winter. If you look closely at her pectoral flipper, you'll notice rakes, or tooth marks, from an encounter with killer whales! π·: Justine Buckmaster, Puget Sound Express
Welcome back, Earhart! π₯° According to our friends at Orca Network, pics taken on Jan. 9 confirm gray whale CRC-22 "Earhart" has returned for the season! Earhart has been visiting the region regularly since 1990. π·: April 2022 photo of Earhart feeding. Bart Rulon, Puget Sound Express
Another gray whale has returned! Gray whale #531 has visited Puget Sound regularly since 2000. She's one of very few female "Sounders", a unique group that detours from the outer-coast migration route to feed on ghost shrimp in the Salish Sea. π·: Bart Rulon, Puget Sound Express
