The assertion is being made that the Supreme Court judgment in FWS places the UK in breach of its ECHR obligations, as laid out in the case of Goodwin v UK. A court case is apparently being prepared on this basis. I think this may be seriously misguided. 🧵

Terrific op-ed by my incisive Manhattan Institute colleague Rafael A. Mangual in today's print The New York Times. From ending gang databases to increasing discovery burdens, progressive reforms have made committing crime easier, law enforcement harder, and cities less safe. nytimes.com/2025/04/24/opi…

FFS. Another kick in the crutch for Met and indeed all serving officers which will add to the exodus. It also increases the risk to NX121 from gangsters. As for the reaction of firearms officers; I shudder to think. Then if NX121 jumps that hurdle, what next? A vetting review?

I’m deeply disappointed by this IOPC decision. Sergeant Martyn Blake has already been unanimously acquitted of murder by a jury having carefully considered all the facts and evidence. He made a difficult decision in the heat of a moment, when confronted by a car associated

I used to show this at the start of every recruit class I taught. The best video ever to explain what policing is really about & the impact it has on individuals. Many on this forum could never do 'the job' but feel qualified enough to criticise - hold my coat.....😉

A few years ago I posted a thread looking at the demographics of Lambeth and reflecting on the implications for thinking about police disproportionality. I've redrawn a couple of charts using Census 2021 data. Here's the first.

😱30 arrests a day of people who oppose mass migration or Islam on social media! Surely that can’t be true, can it…?🤷🏼‍♀️ Well, you know me - I can’t let a claim like that go unchecked! 🧐 So let’s dive in 🧵1/18 #FreeSpeech #FactCheck

What do we think?🤔 Hmm…. A Daily Mail headline so clearly designed to make you furious. Being shared by salivating Tory MPs who love a good rage farming story! So, what’s going on here? Let’s take a look!👀 🧵 1/13

This study (🇸🇪) shows why we should think about time when analysing hotspots. For example they found fast-food outlets were violence hotspots on weekday evenings, but at weekends they were only hotspots in the morning. *When* matters as well as where. doi.org/10.1007/s10610…

Last sentence of our new paper: "Continued use of citywide population rates as a benchmark against which to measure racial bias in police activity would seem naïve at best, and deliberately misleading if deployed by more informed commentators." rdcu.be/evAHc

Last year, my team reported the first RCT on AI assisted police report writing - and found that it did *NOT* improve efficiency. There has been a lot of disbelief - how could AI not improve things?!? Well, new evidence in another RCT shows that AI coding assistance *REDUCED*
