‘.’ by Marlon DuBois (via Shed Theory) is some of the best dark ambient I’ve ever blasted full force in the car. Just epic miasma for the digitally drowning. Tons of featured artists to check out too. Looks like he put out a 2nd record this year also, which I’ll be spinning asap.

I’ve been binging the Continuity Ted Leo Account 🍉 discography in advance of tomorrow’s ‘Shake the Sheets’ 20th anniversary show at Fine Line — a particularly special event as almost 21 years ago I held my future wife’s hand for the first time at a Ted show. His music was magic then & remains so.

‘Gilly’s Wood’ by Dau (via Phantom Limb) is the subterranean parallel to astral projection in audio form. Instead of transcending consciousness thru stars, the ambient pads & swells traverse earthen soil, providing a bug’s eye view of from whence we came & to where we return. 🐜

‘Never Leave’ by Everyone Asked About You (via numerogroup) is a triumphantly shouty emo-pop return for a beloved late 90s band w/ a signature boisterous & inviting sound. I plan to be front & center for their Best Friends Forever Festival set next month. Time to memorize lyrics to lose my voice to.

Very hyped to see Rosie Tucker at Underground Music Venue tonight. Their new album ‘UTOPIA NOW!’ is possibly their best yet and it was very difficult narrowing the top 20 down after listening to it all week, but I did my best: open.spotify.com/playlist/0qh9u…

‘Dark Ageism’ by Other Half (via Big Scary Monsters) has some of the most raucous & perfectly dialed in guitar tones of the year. Smooth slacker punk with an edge & a sardonic sense of humor. And matthew caws’s very own Matthew in full-on “Popular” mode talking on the album opener! 🫶

Hyped to see Lusine, Arms and Sleepers, & Yppah at First Avenue’s 7th St Entry tonight. Their new collab on Future Archive Recordings is like the Captain Planet of bedroom electronica: watery synths, airy loops, & earthy beats combine to create the ultimate chill. I’m bringing a pillow!
