On Jan 9-10 Seville hosted the 1st MitoNed Workshop at IBiS Eli presented her work on Kiss1 neurons in male reproductive health, and Irene Fernández introduced lactylation as a post-translational modification in a mouse model of Leigh Syndrome 👉quintanalab.org/blog

Yesterday was Aphrodite's last day at Quintanalab💔 She has been 4 months around, working with Marta Luna, investigating how COX15 deficiency impacts brain function. We will miss her!

Great visit yesterday from Wake Forest University students to our campus, hosted by Dr. Roser Nadal (LabHumaUAB). They explored our molecular biology, microscopy, and histology facilities and had the chance to visit the Anderolab and the Quintana Lab. It was a pleasure to meet them!

Celebrating Carnival at Institut de Neurociències UAB🎉 Which singers can you recognize?

Today is the #RareDiseaseDay At the Institute, different research groups are dedicated to understanding and treating rare diseases.

1) The Quintana Lab focuses on mitochondrial diseases, which are caused by defects in mitochondria, the energy-producing structures within cells. These disorders can affect multiple organs, leading to severe neurological and muscular problems.

Last Friday, we stepped away from the lab for our traditional calçotada—and it couldn’t have been better! It was a great chance to unwind, enjoy some amazing food, and spend quality time together beyond the pipettes and tubes. Looking forward to the next one!

So great to have Laura back!!! Great excuse to enjoy a good lunch with the lab!

La Marató del 2019 va recaptar diners per investigar sobre malalties minoritàries. Entre els projectes escollits, hi havia els dels JMLB lab i el Quintana Lab que buscaven tractaments per la malaltia de Lesch-Nyhan i la síndrome de Leigh. Ahir es presentaven els resultats 📺🔬

Albert was on TV yesterday, at the final ceremony of La Marató 2019, where researchers presented the results of all the funded projects. With some makeup on, Albert Quintana talked about Leigh syndrome and the advancements achieved thanks to La Marató funding 💚
