Saddened to hear of the death of Scottish artist, designer and playwright John Byrne (1940-2023). Gerry Rafferty, then in The Humblebums, wrote the tune 'Patrick' as an ode to their friendship: "Patrick, my primitive, painter of art/You will always and ever be near to my heart."

As a disabled person, I continue to struggle against a lifelong tendency to be a "background character". I now feel so much fire and fury in recognising where I haven't been able to fully take ownership for my contributions. To have confidence and capacity feels like growth.
