It was such a lovely time! We were all amazed by what Carnegie Mellon University Africa has achieved (and by how beautiful the campus is)🌺🌳. A big thank you for sponsoring the school and supporting us with the organization🤗

We are pleased to announce our new work, “GameTraversalBenchmark: Evaluating Planning Abilities Of Large Language Models Through Traversing 2D Game Maps” with Prof. Julian Togelius and Dr. Steven James, is accepted to #NeurIPS2024 D&B track. 1/9

The countdown begins for our South African Brainhack!! Watch this space for ways to connect in virtually too! CIFAR IBRO - International Brain Research Organization WitsNeuRL Johannesburg Institute for Advanced Study (JIAS) Wits University g.tec medical engineering GmbH

Lab tours, VR experiments, art museum, street art, and a Center of Origin Tour …And that’s just the first morning in beautiful SA! So grateful to team up with Guillaume Dumas RAIL Lab 🇿🇦 and g.tec medical engineering GmbH to reimagine neuroimaging science that is ecologically valid and accessible at our #SABrainhack with our EEG hyperscanning project! Think Unicorn! CIFAR IBRO - International Brain Research Organization

I am happy that our paper won an Outstanding Paper Award at EMNLP 2025 🎉 Congratulations Hellina Hailu Nigatu Benjamin Rosman thamar | & Monojit Choudhury

I'm excited to announce that I have received the Thuthuka Research Grant from the National Research Foundation of South Africa! I will use this grant to start my own lab focused on comp neuro and ML theory at Wits University: the Cognition, Adaptation and Learning (CAandL) Lab! This is a joint effort with Victoria Williams, Stefano Sarao Mannelli and Geraud Nangue Tasse.

Our paper, “Make Haste Slowly: A Theory of Emergent Structured Mixed Selectivity in Feature Learning ReLU Networks” will be presented at ICLR 2025 this week (openreview.net/forum?id=27SSn…)! We derive closed-form dynamics for some, remarkably linear, feature learning ReLU networks (1/9)

CAandL Lab is at ICLR this week with 3 poster presentations. Come by and chat if you are interested! Congrats to all of the authors🥳 Francesco Mori Stefano Sarao Mannelli Francesca Mignacco Devon Jarvis Richard Klein Benjamin Rosman Andrew Saxe Sebastian Lee Clémentine Dominé 🍊
