At Neeva we were an early customer of Surge using them for search quality evals (pre chatgpt boom). Surge’s quality was >> scale’s.

What’s more interesting is saying “copilot for x” (the thing to say 2 years ago) got replaced by “cursor for x” even though they mean roughly the same thing. Is it because GitHub copilot botched the product execution?

Hot take: LLMs will be a net negative for recruiting on the whole. The bottlenecks are still human (cc tylercowen) and the rest is just AI expansion to AI filter/summarize making the human part even harder. Not to mention increase in disingenuous behavior.

The bigger question is not why some windsurf employees were left behind (which is very common in acquihire cases.. were often only R&D gets picked up), but ... why did google pay freaking 2.4B just for a few devs and a *non exclusive* license to windsurf IP.

LLMs are and will continue to be a net negative (across the economy) for things bottlenecked on human attention like recruiting.

One thing I truly agree with. O3 + search (or deep research) is magical (I personally like the slightly autistic savant style personality of o3 where everything is tables).

With $FIG we have another massive "POP" highlighting the gross inefficiency in the modern IPO process. It's very simple. They REFUSE to match supply/demand (that happened today). They brag about the mis-match - "30X oversubscribed." The outcome is expected & fully intentional.
