This framing continues to bother me. A lot. Competitive balance in college sports has always been distorted by resources and revenue. The richest schools have always had an advantage by paying coaches,building facilities. But now, when it’s about paying athletes, it’s a problem.

From the Executive Order: “Recent litigation, including a 2021 Supreme court ruling on name, image, and likeness (NIL) payments...” That case, Alston v NCAA, did not address NIL payments at all.

Yes. Agree with this. Could be fixed by collective bargaining.

Without getting too political here, I'm fascinated by a Republican president trying to limit what laws states can pass.

This is a good idea and I have always thought that eventually this would happen. The infrastructure is in place to develop elite athletes. Why not just fund it where necessary?
