Did your parathyroid scan come back negative? Scans can miss small tumors or multiple overactive glands—but that doesn't mean you don’t have primary hyperpara. ✅ An experienced parathyroid surgeon can often find the problem—even when scans don’t. #PAM2025 @Paratroupers1

4D Parathyroid CT is one of the most sensitive scans for spotting overactive parathyroid glands—especially when multiple glands are involved or in unusual locations other tests might miss. But remember, primary hyperparathyroidism is diagnosed by blood tests—not scans. #PAM2025

One of the problems in the current hospital drs pay row is the total lack of trust Drs have in the DDRB and government to do the right thing. Eg the non pay promises from the last action have not been delivered, exception reporting/rotations not happened, the promised mitigations

High PTH with low vitamin D? Sometimes, high parathyroid hormone (PTH) isn’t caused by a parathyroid tumor—it’s your body compensating for low Vitamin D. This is called secondary hyperparathyroidism. Your doctor may recommend Vitamin D supplements and recheck #PAM2025

Parathyroid cancer is very rare—seen in less than 1% of people with high calcium and PTH levels. But when it does occur, it often presents with: 🔹 Very high calcium (often >14 mg/dL) 🔹 Extremely elevated PTH 🔹 A large parathyroid tumor #CheckYourCalcium #PAM2025

A surgeon has helped develop the first-ever molecule that illuminates nerve tissue, helping make surgery both faster and safer. The first-of-its-kind drug binds to nerve tissue and fluoresces, enabling surgeons to better see the nerves as they operate.

Familial Hypocalciuric Hypercalcemia (FHH) is a rare genetic condition that causes high blood calcium but very low urine calcium. It’s caused by a change in the calcium-sensing receptor gene, and it can look a lot like primary hyperparathyroidism—but it’s not the same! #PAM2025

Is Your Surgeon High-Volume? Why It Matters. When it comes to parathyroid surgery, experience makes a difference. 🔹 High-volume surgeons perform at least 30–50 parathyroid operations per year. 🔹 They have higher cure rates and fewer complications. buff.ly/e8Ir6Hn

Parathyroid surgery can protect your bones! Osteoporosis increases the risk of bone fractures—especially in older adults. If you have primary hyperparathyroidism, having a parathyroidectomy (surgery to remove the overactive gland) can lower your risk of fractures. #PAM2025
