1/5 📣 Excited to share “LLMs instead of Human Judges? A Large Scale Empirical Study across 20 NLP Evaluation Tasks”! arxiv.org/abs/2406.18403 🚀 We introduce JUDGE-BENCH, a benchmark to investigate to what extent LLM-generated judgements align with human evaluations. #NLProc

Looking forward to #CogSci2024! We’ll present 2 posters analysing cross-speaker alignment in face-to-face dialogue, one on lexical alignment led by @DrEsamGhaleb escholarship.org/uc/item/43h970… and one on the relation between lexical and gestural alignment led by Sho Akamine 👇

Why do human languages look the way they do? Which learning constraints, communication pressures &group dynamics cause the emergence of common language properties? We introduce NeLLComX, a framework to study this w/ neural-net agents arxiv.org/abs/2407.13999 w/Y.Lian Tessa Verhoef

Can we please make standard a minimum distance between posters? the poster session at #CogSci2024 is close to #emnlp2023 level of bad 😓

Very interesting paper by Yilun Hua and Yoav Artzi! Great to see work on this topic dear to me: adaptation in repeated reference games. We looked into it using earlier models in this EMNLP-2020 paper aclanthology.org/2020.emnlp-mai… with Ece Takmaz Mario Giulianelli Sandro Pezzelle Arabella J Sinclair

Excited to be working with Cambridge University Press on my (text)book 'AI for the Ecological Study of Language Development.' It will guide young researchers in exploring how sensory input, cognitive mechanisms, and social interactions shape learning in natural environments!

I'll be at Conference on Language Modeling until Thursday, presenting this paper—check it out at the Wednesday 4:30-6:30 poster session! Would also love to chat with folks about (mechanistic) interpretability, and how it can be useful for cog sci / linguistics

📢 #NLProc I'm hiring! 2x PhD students (apply by Nov 22) & postdoc (Nov 15). These positions are part of a large project on the problem of attribution for LLM outputs to the original data sources, on which LLMs were trained. Job links on my website (in the bio) /1
