There we go with our second set of sorghum planting. last set took about 12.5 hrs between four of us to hand plant and this set took only an hour. Thank you Philip Rozeboom and Dr. Adam Varenhorst for lending your planter. Thank you @prajwalrs, Ermias Assefa and Shalma Maman

Most of our sorghum plots South Dakota State University have germinated. Some seem to be affected by a little lower temperature while germinating but overall they are doing well. Need to start weeding, the biggest headach of any plant scientist with field research 🙄 😬

Planting of the Schnable Lab SbDiv 2025 sorghum field is completed! This 2,438 plot field was the toughest field I worked with due the small plot size (1-row wide and 7.5ft long). However, CHIDANAND ULLAGADDi, Kyle Linders, the UNL AgHort farm crew, and I succeeded!

Inoculating Bacterial Leaf Streak 🌱 on a diverse hard red winter wheat panel from public & private breeding programs across 10 U.S. states. Advancing resistance screening for improved BLS management! Thanks to Gazala Ameen👩🏻🔬👉🏽🦸🏻♀️ for continuous guidance! #BLS #DiseaseResistance #SDSU

After adressing the issues on land and personnel availability, the seeds of Wisconsin Diversity (Widiv) panel are finally in the ground🌽. What a nice team; Fatma (Fatma İnci), Cavid, Hatice (@Hatice_tugcu) 🙏

Corn genetics labs thrive when graduate students invest their time in a nursery that will support experiments long after they've graduated and moved on to bigger and better things. Thank you Waqar Ali Jensina Davis Harshita Sofiya Arora!

Back to Lincoln, NE collecting data on 2000+ plots of sorghum diversity panel. Thank you team Schnable Lab James Schnable for hosting us. I am sure this collaboration between South Dakota State University SDSU College of Ag, Food & Environmental Sciences and University of Nebraska-Lincoln Nebraska Agronomy and Horticulture will lead to fruitful results.

Nice cool cloudy day to be in the field. Got to see grad students, Subash Thapa and Dante from SDSU winter wheat breeding program SDSU Winter Wheat Breeding harvesting their plots out here.

So proud to see Sachin Sachin Sharma shining at The American Phytopathological Society special session "Plant Pathologist of the Future" as our APS-NCD champion🏆. He presented our ongoing work on a new soybean pathogen species in the USA at #PlantHealth2025. Thanks Syngenta SDSU College of Ag, Food & Environmental Sciences South Dakota Soybean
