Sad day for water protection across the USA. #Science does NOT support this ruling: Supreme Court limits federal power over #wetlands, boosts property rights over clean water (from The Associated Press). ⁦Freshwater Science⁩ ⁦Baruch Institute CU⁩ ⁦⁦Consortium of Aquatic Science Societies⁩ apnews.com/article/41fc29…

Additional context on the the gravity of this decision to weaken protection for #water & #wetlands: The US has already lost devastating amounts of historic wetlands. Many midwestern states have lost >80%. #SC has experienced a decline in wetland area by 27% and #NC by 49%.

This is a VERY BAD IDEA 😡 #lightpollution during peak #birdmigration, which BTW is happening right now, poses a hazard for the millions of birds traveling over NYC on their migrations. COULD WE MOVE THIS to after fall migration? City of New York NYC Parks Mayor Eric Adams NYC Mayor's Office?

Pledge to stand with us as we call on building owners, managers, and homeowners to turn off excess lighting during migration season to prevent needless bird deaths and ensure that birds have a safe and #BirdFriendly passage: bit.ly/3RND8oX

Bats are nature’s little farmers. They play a crucial role in pollinating many of our favorite fruits like mangoes, bananas, and avocados. Celebrate these amazing night-time pollinators this #BatWeek! 📸 Mexican free-tailed bat by Ann Froschauer/USFWS

As little as 20 minutes outside daily can give your body the boost it needs to feel good. Today is #NationalStressAwarenessDay, a day to acknowledge our stressors & seek out coping mechanisms. Remember, nature is a fantastic form of medicine! 📸Courtesy of Tamara Johnson

🌿 Happy #WetlandsWednesday! #DYK that wetlands are among the world’s most productive environments? They are cradles of biological diversity, providing the water and primary productivity upon which countless species of plants and animals depend for survival.

DYK that wild turkeys have a fleshy appendage that drapes over their nose, and it's called a snood? It can change color based on their mood. A snood mood. From our family to yours – we wish everyone a day filled with gratitude, relaxation, snoods & nature. 📸: By Steven Hunter

Male and female monarchs look very similar, apart from the two spots on the hindwings of the male butterflies. 🦋 Females lack these hindwing spots. This key identifying characteristic can be seen in the picture below! 📸Larry Woodward/USFWS
